They make him smile and give him a sense of peace during busy days of opening letters, making toys, scheduling his December 24th trip around the world and other tasks at hand. Birds are a favorite of Santa. He spends an hour each morning walking among them in his back garden, and during the afternoon hours he can view them from his North Pole office. He has built them platforms, tubes, and simple hopper-style feeders. The birds enjoy sunflower seeds, cracked corn, canary seed, peanut kernels, and suet.
